TRIATHLON

This part of the website deals with triathlon, a race sport
consisting of (usually) swimming, cycling and running. This page does
not give an introduction to the whole sport in detail, as that has obviously
been done in many other web pages. Rather, this is a place for a couple
of techy bits and bobs I have written relating to triathlon. Presently,
these include:
A couple of small spreadsheets
written for Microsoft Excel. One sheet calculates the five training
zones for each discipline given the athlete's minimum heart rate and maximum
heart rate for each discipline. The other estimates the energy requirements
of an athlete given race distances, speeds and so on. I have recently
added a training log, the Trilog written by Rob Blomquist. This
page also includes a couple of cycling-oriented spreadsheets as well:
a gear calculator and a spoke length calculator.
My take on weight training
for triathletes/cyclists/runners.
A description of my new timetrial
bike.
An account of my first Ironman
race, the Great Floridian Triathlon in 1998.
